Jesus speaks of “wars and rumors of wars” in Matthew 24:seis-7 as indicators of the nearing end. Throughout history, these violent and tumultuous times have been viewed by many Christians as connected to biblical prophecies. Signaling a period of tribulation and unrest preceding the return of Christ.

“Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man" (Luke 21:36).

The call to be vigilant and prepared is timeless, encouraging believers to remain steadfast in their faith amidst the uncertainties of the world.

In modern times, false prophets continue to exist, disseminating misleading teachings and exploiting people’s spiritual vulnerabilities for personal gain. Examples of false prophets and deceptive religious movements can be observed in various contexts. 

In Matthew 24:7, Jesus speaks of “famines and pestilences” as indicators of the coming end. Throughout the previous centuries, famine and disease outbreaks have been discussed by many Christians as the fulfillment of biblical prophecy.

Zechariah 12:3 – (NKJV) – 3 And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it.

48 But if that evil servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’ 49 and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards, 50 the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of, 51 and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

As believers, we need to be spiritually prepared for such challenges. Let’s remain vigilant and steadfast in our faith, always seeking God’s wisdom and guidance.

For many years when I looked at this passage in Matthew, I thought the false prophets would be voices that would only exist outside the church, but as I have studied more I have realized that is not true.

The Bible has become subordinate to the modern church’s quest for a more appealing “truth.” These are indeed “perilous times” spiritually.

This is a choice you have to make NOW, while you’re alive and coherent. Otherwise, you’ll either end up in hell or left behind. If you’re not sure if you’re saved or not, if you truly want to be born again and have the assurance of salvation, receive the Holy Spirit, feel His Shalom — a peace that surpasses all understanding, and get a 1-way, non-stop ticket to Heaven after you die, or that you won’t be left behind at the Rapture, which can happen at any moment, this is what you have to do…

While there is no biblical proof that the things mentioned above are prophecy fulfilled, we can see how many of these events are similar to what the Bible describes. In any case, we are to be watching for prophecy fulfilled because Jesus told us that the day of the Lord—His return for His own—would come like a thief in the night (2 Peter 3:10), unexpected and unannounced.
